As the leg began, dating models Brent & Caite sought medical assistance at a hospital, but the ailing couple rallied in Bariloche, Argentina to pass attorney moms Monique & Shawne, who struggled at both tasks and became the third eliminated team.

UNDER THE WEATHER

Departing the Pit Stop in first place at 11:20pm, cowboys Jet & Cord opened their clue instructing them to take one of two buses on a scenic six-hour ride through the Andes Mountains and cross into Argentina. Then, they had to drive to an old saloon called El Boliche Viejo, the Old Joint. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid hid out there when they were in Argentina. Now it's where teams would find the Gnome in the Wall Gang and where they would have to play a game of five-card stud against the Travelocity Roaming Gnome.

At 1:20am, dating models Brent & Caite missed their checkout time, which would have been in fourth place, because Caite was feeling sick. After vomiting in the bathroom, Caite returned to her bed at the Pit Stop as Brent said he also was not feeling well. The pair put on their jackets and took a ride to the hospital in an attempt to get healthy. On the reason behind the illness, Brent surmised, "I think wecre getting extremely dehydrated from what we're going through."

Now, an hour past their departure time, Brent & Caite laid on gurneys in the emergency room as Caite received IV fluids to alleviate her dehydration. On what this could mean for their standing in the race, Caite commented, "We might be in the worst situation possible."

Finally, at 4:20am, three hours past their departure time, Brent & Caite were finally able to walk out of the emergency room, still weak, but able to continue on in the race. Now in last place with all the teams checked out, the dating models didn't know if they would be able to catch up in the race. Arriving back at the hotel to gather their bags, Brent & Caite saw detectives Louie & Michael, who were using the hotel Internet to do research on El Boliche Viejo. Brent commented, "Even though we felt like crap, we were at least pretty excited to still be in the race."

THE INTERROGATION

The three teams on the 8:30am bus to Bariloche, cowboys Jet & Cord, dating couple Carol & Brandy, and married couple Joe & Heidi, all convened at the Del Salvador Bus Station in anticipation of their departure from Puerto Varas. Seeing Jet & Cord for the first time since Santiago, Brandy & Carol bombarded the cowboys with questions about how they found the bus that helped them win the previous leg. A little put off by the interrogation, Cord later commented, "I like someone to care about me and I didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling." Jet added, "A 'Hey, how ya doing' would've been nice."

The remaining six teams congregated at the Cruz del Sur Bus Terminal to board the 8:50am bus to Bariloche. A still weak Caite said, "This bus ride is six hours long so we're going to try to get a lot of rest on the bus. I'm not feeling so hot right now."

HIGH STAKES POKER

When the first bus pulled into Bariloche, Jet & Cord took the lead in their car as Joe & Heidi and Carol & Brandy followed closely behind. The cowboys got directions to El Boliche Viejo before leaving Puerto Varas, so they didn't want to lead the other two teams there. Instead, they pulled over to the side of the road, allowing Joe & Heidi and Carol & Brandy to pass by them, wondering if the teams knew why they slowed down.

In the end, Jet and Cord's tricks didn't work as all three teams arrived at El Boliche Viejo at the same time. Running into the bar, the teams took seats at separate tables where they each faced a Travelocity Roaming Gnome as a menacing dealer started dealing the first hand of five-card stud. Joe & Heidi's pair of 9's won on their first hand against the Gnome's Ace high. When the dealer handed the married couple their gnome, they tipped it over to find their next clue that instructed them to hoof it to the Pena Gaucha.

Meanwhile, as Brandy & Carol also won on their first hand when their King high beat the Gnome's Jack, Jet & Cord found their Gnome to be a tough competitor. The cowboys had two pairs, tens and fours, and managed to lose to the gnome who held two pairs of Aces and nines. Cord joked, "That gnome is good. He should go to Vegas." On the second hand, the cowboys tied the Gnome with a pair of tens, but the Gnome's next highest card, a Queen, beat the cowboys' Jack. Finally, on the third hand, the cowboys triumphed over the Gnome with an Ace, King, Queen to the Gnome's Ace, King, 10.

When the second bus pulled into Bariloche, four of the six teams got onto the road to El Boliche Viejo with few problems, but two quickly fell behind. Brothers Dan & Jordan, like in the previous leg, stalled out their standard transmission car, forcing Jordan to get out and push them. Meanwhile, dating models Brent & Caite became lost in Bariloche and began to snap at each other. A still feeble Caite said to Brent, "I want you to actually get these directions right." Brent snapped back, "Why don't you get 'em right?"

LASSO LAUGHS

Running out back behind El Boliche Viejo to Pena Gaucha, Joe & Heidi and Carol & Brandy opened their clue to find a Roadblock. In it, one team member had to choose a roping station and, after watching a demonstration, attempt to rope a steer-horned hay bale target 18-feet away. When they succeeded, they had to pull the target to themselves to retrieve their next clue.

As Carol and Heidi struggled to become familiar with the ropes, Jet ran around the corner and picked up a lasso as Brandy complained. Cord later remarked, "[Brandy thought] this Roadblock was too much like our way of life. We didn't throw a fit 'cause they know Spanish and we don't." While Jet missed his first attempt at lassoing the target, he made certain not to miss twice and pulled the hay bale towards him to retrieve the clue instructing him and Cord to drive to Puente Nirihuau. Driving away, Jet joked, "I can't believe I missed it on the first try. I'm gonna hear about that."

After Carol finally roped her clue, she and Brandy began the drive to Puente Nirihuau in hopes of catching up to Jet & Cord. When Brandy questioned where Carol was leading them, Carol chided, "Who's the one who's navigationally challenged?" As they neared the bridge near Puente Nirihuau, Carol gloated on how she led them correctly, causing Brandy to snipe, "I'm not going to fight with you about this. If you want to have a tantrum, have a tantrum." Carol responded, "I'm just so tired of you not trusting me."

HORSING AROUND

Arriving at the cliffs overlooking the river at Puente Nirihuau, cowboys Jet & Cord opened their clue to find a Detour with the choice of Horse Sense or Horse Power. In Horse Sense, teams visited a gunslinger who gave them a set of directional coordinates. Then, using an old-time compass for reference, teams had to follow the coordinates by counting out the specific number of steps to find a bag of stolen money buried in the ground. Then they had to deliver the money to the lead bandit at the train station. If the coordinates on the bag matched those on their sheet, the lead bandit would give them their next clue. In Horse Power, teams made their way to a polo field and donned appropriate attire. Then, moving a practice pony down the field and alternating turns, teams attempted to score a goal in nine or less swings of the mallet.

Since it involved horses, Jet & Cord ran down to the polo field with no hesitation. Cord even began picking out which horse he would ride until Jet pointed out they would be mounting a wooden practice horse. Cord moaned, "Come on! I was tryin' to pick me a gold old horse." After putting on matching green and yellow polo jerseys, the cowboys took turns hitting the ball while atop the horse, and then hauling the large wooden creature down the field towards the goal. With each swing of the mallet, the cowboys neared the blue and red colored goal until Jet made the winning shot for the score. The pair received a trophy with the inscription of Estancia Fortin Chacabuco, a nearby ranch and the Pit Stop. When the cowboys stepped onto the mat at the ranch in first place, Phil informed them they had won a ten day trip for two from Travelocity to Patagonia.

PROBLEMS ON THE PLAIN

Since Carol didn't want to deal with riding a horse, she and Brandy chose to search for the bag of stolen money. When it became apparent that finding the money wouldn't be as easy as they thought, Brandy said to Carol, "This was something you wanted to do." A frustrated Carol replied, "I swear to God I'm going to sit down and quit. I can't do anything right." Brandy coolly replied, "That's a nice temper tantrum." Later, she added, "We're not communicating very well at all." Putting aside their problems, the squabbling couple decided to switch to polo playing, and finished the day in third place, directly behind father and daughter Steve & Allie.

Newly dating Jordan & Jeff had a difficult afternoon trying to track down the missing loot. They received their set of coordinates from the gunslinger and promptly dug up a bag of money. However, the couple mistook the gunslinger in the field for the lead bandit at the train station and kept trying to give the bag to the gunslinger who refused it. A frustrated Jeff had no idea what he was doing wrong, until he finally read the clue and realized that he and Jordan needed to find the lead bandit. Walking away from the gunslinger en route to a 5th place finish, Jeff joked, "We're so stupid. We definitely shouldn't reproduce."

POWER OF PRAYER

As Louie and Dan both successfully lassoed the steer horns, attorney mom Shawne struggled with the ropes, while her friend and teammate Monique cheered her on. The pressure increased for Shawne when last place Brent & Caite finally arrived at Pena Gaucha. In two tries, Brent roped the steer horns, as a still optimistic Shawne continued to throw her lasso to no avail. Monique cheered, "Give 'em some girl power!" Finally, after some prayer, Shawne threw a toss that landed over the horns and she slowly dragged the clue back to her.

All was not lost for Monique & Shawne when they arrived at Puente Nirihuau in last place. Brothers Dan & Jordan struggled with polo, while detectives Louie & Michael wandered in search of the stolen loot. As Dan & Jordan started their third attempt on the wooden horse, the attorney moms descended onto the polo field with Brent & Caite and Louie & Michael who had decided to switch tasks. With elimination on the line, all four teams swung the mallets with all their might and dragged the heavy horses down the field. Presumably, practice made perfect as brothers Dan & Jordan finished first out of the quartet struggling on the field to finish the day in sixth place.

THE LAST SHOT

The remaining three teams all went back to the starting line when it became clear that they wouldn't reach the goal in nine swings. On the second attempt, Michael used a different approach by hitting the ball with the open face of the mallet that generated a huge shot. Still feeling the effects of their illness, Brent & Caite struggled but managed to hit a few key shots to move them towards the goal. Monique & Shawne quickly grew tired from dragging the wooden horse across the field and hitting shot after shot.

When both Brent & Caite and Louie & Michael hit winning goals to claim seventh and eighth place respectively, the exhausted attorney moms Monique & Shawne switched tasks, found the bag of stolen loot, and finished out strong. After being eliminated by Phil, Monique commented, "We just wanted to be an example to our children and to other mothers. Just pursue your dreams and don't give up. As long as my children know I didn't give up that's what's important to me." Shawne added, "I am so proud of Monique in so many ways. We did our best. That's all we could do."
