After a difficult last leg, mother and son Margie & Luke soared back into first place while brothers Mark & Michael made critical mistakes resulting in two two-hour penalties and a last place finish.

SISTERS SUCKERED

Departing the Pit Stop in first place at 9:27pm, sibling lawyers Tammy & Victor ripped open their clue instructing them to fly over 400 miles to Bangkok, Thailand. When they landed, they had to travel by taxi to the outskirts of town to find a boatyard for their next clue.

All five teams took the 7:25am flight from Phuket to Bangkok, and when it landed mother and son Margie & Luke grabbed the early lead out of the airport, followed by sisters Kisha & Jen. After Kisha & Jen's taxi passed the mother and son's taxi, both of them stopped, unsure of where the boatyard was located. The two taxi drivers briefly spoke before Margie & Luke's driver found a local who knew directions. Margie asked her driver not to tell Kisha & Jen's driver, who then sped off without the new information. As Margie & Luke now headed to the boatyard, Kisha & Jen quickly realized that their driver was still lost. Kisha asked her driver if Margie & Luke's driver told him incorrect directions to which he replied, "Yeah, yeah."

MANUAL LABOR

Arriving at the boatyard in first place, Margie & Luke opened their clue to find a Roadblock. In it, one team member had to choose a long-tail boat and figure out how to join an unwieldy rod to its propeller to make a working boat. The boat would only run if racers assembled the propeller correctly.

Margie grabbed a set of tools and began putting washers on long rod in preparation for securing the propeller. As Jaime joined her at the dock, Margie already was tightening screws on the propeller, firmly attaching it to the boat. Once they got approval from the judge, Margie & Luke opened their next clue instructing them to use the provided map and navigate the boat they just repaired through the maze of Bangkok canals to the Peninsula Pier.

After Margie & Luke motored away in the water, Jaime continued to attach her propeller as Victor and Mark began the task. When Jaime finished, she and Cara left the dock, but returned after they decided to get their bags they had left with their waiting taxi. With their bags in hand, the NFL cheerleaders speed away in comfortably in second place, just as sisters Kisha & Jen arrived at the boatyard in last place.

BACKPACK BROUHAHA

As Jen and Mark put their propeller on with relative ease, Victor struggled to thread the screw properly on the rod. Pulling away from the dock in third place, brothers Mark & Michael decided not to take their bags along with them, believing that they would be returning to the boatyard after finding the pier. Likewise, sisters Kisha & Jen also left the dock without their backpacks, but left behind more than that including Kisha's shoes and the team's fanny pack with their passports and all of their money.

Trying to make up lost ground on the other teams, Victor believed he finally secured the propeller properly on the boat, so he and Tammy began to pull away from the dock. Almost instantly, the propeller failed, so they had to return to shore for Victor to try once again to attach the propeller correctly. After some more tinkering and tightening, the sibling lawyers got the okay to leave the dock. Having noticed that Mark & Michael and Kisha & Jen didn't take their bags, Tammy & Victor made the strategic move to bring their bags along hoping that it would make a difference. Victor noted, "I think that's the right call"

While Margie & Luke and Cara & Jaime enjoyed their boat ride, Mark & Michael and Kisha & Jen began to worry about their decision to leave their bags behind. Mark told his brother, "I hope we get back to our bags. Did you ever think about that?" Meanwhile, Jen asked Kisha where their fanny pack was, not realizing that it sat on the dock with Kisha's shoes. As they had left the boatyard, Jen told Kisha to leave the bags in the taxi, but didn't know that Kisha did not have the fanny pack with her. Jen was worried about leaving the pack with all of their passports and money sitting on the dock, and wanted to turn around, but Kisha felt they should just continue onward. Jen later remarked, "I think in this situation what I was trying to do was not to cause a confrontation. I listened to the big sister."

SING OUT LOUD

Arriving at the Peninsula Pier in first place, mother and son Margie & Luke discovered a Detour with the choice of Broken Teeth or Broken Record. In Broken Teeth, teams traveled to the place some call "The Street of Happy Smiles". Once there, they had to search through fifty sets of dentures to find good matches for five waiting patients. In Broken Record, teams had to travel to a parking lot and choose a party taxi equipped with an onboard karaoke system. Then, a group of locals joined teams for a five-mile ride during which they all sang along to a well-known Thai pop video until they reached their destination.

As Margie & Luke went off in search of "The Street of Happy Smiles", Jaime & Cara pulled up to the Peninsula Pier in second place, with brothers Mark & Michael close behind. As they disembarked, the brothers immediately noticed that the former NFL cheerleaders, who chose Broken Record, had their backpacks with them.

BROTHERS BATTLE

Brothers Mark & Michael wanted to take a water taxi back to the boatyard, but the driver told them that was too far to travel. This prompted Mark to suggest that they just perform the karaoke first before returning for their packs, but an insistent Michael asked, "You're giving up all of our bags?" After a heated discussion, Mark relented very unwillingly as the pair hired a taxi to take them back to the boatyard. However, the issue wasn't entirely resolved when Mark sniped in the taxi, "It's not about bags. I'd rather give up those bags and finish this leg. You don't want the million dollars. You just want to play."

Pulling up to the pier in fourth place, sisters Kisha & Jen took the opposite approach from the brothers and decided to sing karaoke before returning to the boatyard for their packs. Jen commented, "I am extremely worried about our stuff." Arriving at the pier in last place, but extremely relieved at having brought their backpacks, Tammy & Victor also chose to perform karaoke.

GRIN AND BEAR IT

Arriving at "The Street of Happy Smiles", Margie & Luke began the unenviable task of placing dentures in the mouths of waiting, toothless patients. The experience wasn't much better for the patients themselves, particularly when Luke tried forcing bottom sets of dentures on the top. Soon, Margie began finding the correct fitting dentures allowing patients to show off their new winning smiles. Later, she remarked, "Having a nursing background, it made it a little bit easier, because I wasn't afraid to be in someone's personal space." In the end, Margie made all five matches for her team to earn their next clue, instructing them to travel to the next Pit Stop at Phya Thai Palace.

Stepping onto the mat at Phya Thai Palace in first place, mother and son Margie & Luke received the good news from Phil that they had won a trip for two from Travelocity to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Looking much healthier than at the last Pit Stop, Margie said, "Today, we did what we had to do fast, and we just focused on our race."

The party taxis were rocking as Jaime & Cara, Kisha & Jen, and Tammy & Victor all embraced the karaoke and sang out loud and strong with their special local friends, described by Tammy as "Mai Tai trannies." On the experience, Jen joked, "My first question was, Are those transvestites?' My next question was, Why do they wear do much makeup?' Third question was, Why are we in a party taxi with three transvestites?'"

SISTERS REGRET

After their karaoke ride was complete, Kisha & Jen found a taxi driver who would take them to the Pit Stop free of charge since their money was still at the boatyard. With former NFL cheerleaders Jaime & Cara taking second place, Kisha & Jen beat Tammy & Victor in a footrace to the mat. However, Phil couldn't check the sisters in until they had their passports and travel documents, so the sibling lawyers finished in third place as Kisha & Jen frantically flagged another taxi to take them to the boatyard. On the dire situation, Jen said, "It's out of both of our hands now. We made the decision, but we both have a lot of regrets."

Having got their bags from their taxi at the boatyard, brothers Mark & Michael watched their cab fare soar as they rode to Chinatown to sing in the karaoke party taxi. Mark commented, "We got our stuff to bargain with if we don't have enough money." When the stuntmen arrived at the parking lot of party taxis, they couldn't pay the full fare so they offered their driver a flashlight and compass that he accepted.

As the brothers sang with the party Michael described as "pretty local girls", sisters Kisha & Jen finally returned to their patiently waiting taxi driver at the boatyard and retrieved their backpacks, money, and passports. With a ride clear across town still ahead, the sisters had little hopes in catching up to Mark & Michael. A disappointed Jen said, "I never thought I would have a day like this at all."

BROKE BROTHERS

With their clue to the Pit Stop in hand, the cash poor brothers bartered another trade with a taxi driver to take them to Phya Thai Palace. When they arrived at the palace, Mark & Michael gave the driver more of their personal belongings along with a small amount of cash. The pair smiled with relief when Phil told them they were the fourth team to arrive, but those smiles disappeared very quickly. Phil assessed the brothers with two two-hour penalties for breaking race rules by using personal possessions to settle two of their taxi bills.

As the brothers waited out their hefty penalty, sisters Kisha & Jen finally arrived at the palace to claim fourth place. The usually stoic Jen broke down in tears as both sisters couldn't believe they survived the leg. Kisha said, "We didn't want one rough day to totally ruin our chances. It was a tough day."

With over three hours still remaining on the penalty, Phil checked in Mark & Michael as the last team to arrive. Despite all of the bad news of the day, the brothers caught their first break when Phil told them that this was a non-elimination leg. However, along with adding the remaining penalty to their release time, the brothers would have to perform a Speed Bump task in the next leg. This didn't bring the optimistic brothers down though as they commented, "We have two major obstacles in this next leg. We have the Speed Bump and we have the time factor, but we're not the type of guys that give up. As long as [our] name is on a Pit Start, we're in the game. We're gonna play it." 1408 ROUTE MARKERS
