Despite facing the fiercest of competitors and a Speed Bump, frat boys Andrew & Dan beat all odds by earning a spot in the final three alongside siblings Nick & Starr and separated couple Ken & Tina. During the Roadblock, Dallas left the bag containing his team's passports and money in a taxi, which lead to Dallas & Toni's elimination.

THE HUNT BEGINS

Departing the Pit Stop in first place, mother and son Toni & Dallas opened their clue to discover that they needed to travel by taxi to a retired Russian nuclear submarine. Once there, they had to descend into the bowels of the ship, search for the sonar room, and find an actor who appeared in the 1990 film titled "The Hunt For Red October."

Arriving nearly together at the submarine three teams, Toni & Dallas, separated couple Ken & Tina, and siblings Nick & Starr all boarded the vessel when the door opened. After looking around the labyrinth of rooms containing sailors who didn't have their next clue, the teams found the sonar room and the actor from "The Hunt For Red October." Opening their clues, the three teams discovered they needed to travel by taxi across town to the place known to locals as the Graveyard of Fallen Monuments.

As the forerunners soon found themselves stuck in gridlock traffic, the last place and hapless Andrew & Dan arrived at the submarine to retrieve their clue. Afterwards, as they stood on the street corner, a large truck splashed the pair, soaking them with water from a deep puddle. Their day improved when they found a taxi driver who could speak English, but Dan commented on the inevitability of the puddle incident and quipped, "It was just a matter of when and how much water was going to be doused on us."

IT ALL ADDS UP

Arriving at the Graveyard of Fallen Monuments in first place, siblings Nick & Starr encountered a Roadblock. In it, one team member had to scour the park filled with Soviet era monuments counting the statues of Lenin, a total of 6, and Stalin, a total of 2. To help correctly identify each statue, they were given the Cyrillic spelling. After joining the two tallies together to create the number 62, they had to head to an antique bookstore and tell the number to the shop owner, who would give them a book. If they got the number wrong, they had to wait ten minutes before making another attempt. Then, using 62, the correct tally from the statues, they had to turn to page 62 in the book where they would find information that would lead them to their next destination, the apartment building of a famous Russian author, Mikhail Bulgakov.

As Nick began the search around the massive park for the statues of the two former leaders of the Soviet Union, Dallas joined him, holding on to his team's passport and money since he would be traveling by himself to the bookstore and apartment complex. With Tina joining in, the three racers now held a sizable lead on the continually floundering Andrew & Dan whose taxi driver took them to the wrong park. A frustrated Dan noted, "We've made zero progress."

FRIENDS NO MORE

While Dallas walked around the Graveyard of Fallen Monuments unable to identify Stalin and Lenin statures, Nick managed to quickly find the six Lenin and two Stalin figures and headed to the bookstore using Ken & Tina's taxi, which was equipped with a GPS system. Nick later remarked, "We absolutely have no alliance with Kenny and Tina at this point so even if stealing their cab sets them back an hour or two hours, that's fine with me."

As Dallas mixed up the Stalin and Lenin statues back at the park, Nick arrived at the bookstore and received his copy of a book by Mikhail Bulgakov. Correctly deducing that the next piece of the clue would be on page 62, Nick located a passage in the text describing an apartment building on Sadovaya Street. As Nick walked to his taxi, he crossed paths with an oblivious Dallas who headed into the bookstore for his first guess, an incorrect 36, as he continued to mix the two kinds of statues. After waiting the required ten minutes, Dallas took a second guess of 46, also incorrect, forcing him to wait once again.

While Nick arrived at the apartment complex to read the next clue directing him and Starr to Sokol'niky Park to find a woman with a Shetland pony, Tina guessed 52 at the bookstore and had to wait alongside Dallas for another try after ten minutes. After comparing notes outside with Tina, Dallas incorrectly guessed 63. Then Tina tried 62, the correct answer which she shared with Dallas, who still had to wait out another ten-minute penalty before receiving his book.

A HUGE MISTAKE

Tina arrived at the apartment complex ahead of Dallas and told Toni and an irritated Ken that she gave Dallas the correct answer. Ken chided his wife, remarking, "We've made a decision not to help anybody else. We gotta stick to it or we're gonna end up cutting our own throats." When Dallas emerged from his taxi at the complex, he instantly realized the enormous mistake he had made by leaving his passport and money in the car as it drove away. After trying unsuccessfully to hail the taxi back, he walked over to his mother and delivered the bad news as an optimistic Dan looked on. With no money, Toni & Dallas tried to figure out how to press on to Sokol'niky Park, even asking Dan for ten dollars. A relieved Dan had to decline their plea since Andrew had taken all of their money with him to complete the Roadblock for his team. Afterwards, Dan admitted, "I probably would not give them ten dollars in this situation. I really wouldn't."

As Toni & Dallas begged for money on the street, Andrew arrived at the apartment complex where Dan told his partner they still had a chance to stay in the race. A smiling Andrew said, "It's a whole new ballgame." The pair quickly got into a taxi to Sokol'niky Park as the clue stated while Toni & Dallas opted to take the metro because they couldn't raise enough funds for a taxi.

GOING FOR A RIDE

Arriving at Sokol'niky Park in first place, siblings Nick & Starr opened their clue to find a Detour having the choice of Ride the Rails and Ride the Lines. In Ride the Rails, teams had to make their way on foot to the Sokol'niky Metro Station, where they had to catch the metro to Ulitsa 1905 and find a marked snack shop to receive a traditional pastry known as a samsa. The wrapper of the samsa would direct them to another train to Kitay-Gorod Station in order to find the statue dedicated to the man who created the Cyrillic alphabet. In exchange for the pastry, a nearby babushka would hand teams a postcard with the name and picture of their final location, VNDKh Park Station. In Ride the Lines, teams made their way on foot to a bus stop near Sokol'niky Park and hop on a trolley bus to a station called Krasndsel'skaya. Then, they had to find a key maker who would give them a storage locker key, before hopping on another trolleybus to a station called Rizhskaya. When they arrived, they had to search the station for a locker that matched their key, open it, and also retrieve a postcard with the name and picture of their final destination, VNDKh Park Station.

With Nick's strong subway skills in hand from living in New York, the pair decided to Ride the Rails as they descended into the crowded Metro Station. With ease, Nick led his sister through the confusing maze of stops and transfers, joking, "Being a New Yorker has finally paid off."

As the siblings cruised through the metro and made their way to VNDKh Park Station, separated couple Ken & Tina got off to a rocky start riding the lines when they boarded a bus that wasn't a trolley bus. The couple realized their mistake, and took a taxi back to the starting point where they found the correct trolley attached to cable wires.

DANCE FEVER

Arriving at Sokol'niky Park within seconds of each other, Toni & Dallas and Andrew & Dan raced to the woman with the Shetland pony, but neither team received their clue from her. By taking the metro rather than a taxi, Toni & Dallas could not get their clue until they returned using the proper transportation. Andrew & Dan, having been spared elimination in the last leg, now hit their Speed Bump, a task that only they had to complete. In this Speed Bump, they had to perform with a group of traditional Russian dancers through one song. Once they had completed the dance to the instructor's satisfaction, she would hand them their next clue.

While Andrew & Dan tried their hardest to dance, Toni & Dallas relied on the kindness of strangers to help them out. Some locals touched Toni's heart by offering cab fare and information on the bus that would take them back to the apartment complex where this mess began for them. Meanwhile, even if Andrew & Dan didn't win any style points, Dan's crazy dance moves paid off as they received their next clue.

FINAL THREE

Arriving at VNDKh Park Station, siblings Nick & Starr found their next clue directing them to travel on foot to the Pit Stop at VNDKh Park, built as a tribute to the achievements of the Socialist state. Stepping onto the mat in first place, the excited siblings learned from Phil that they had secured a place in the final three along with a trip for two from Travelocity to island of Anguilla.

As Toni & Dallas returned to the woman with the Shetland pony and started raising money to ride the lines, Ken & Tina and Andrew & Dan arrived at VNDKh Park Station. Andrew & Dan spotted the cluebox directing them to the Pit Stop, but Ken & Tina missed it, seeing only Phil and the Pit Stop. On the mat, the frat boys cheered as they claimed the second spot in the final three. On the other hand, Ken & Tina instantly panicked when Phil told them they hadn't picked up the clue at the end of the Detour instructing them to come to the mat.

TIME RUNS OUT

While Ken & Tina frantically searched VNDKh park for their clue, Toni & Dallas gained ground one trolley bus at a time by successfully raising the money needed to advance forward. However, the perseverance of the mother and son proved to be fruitless when a local directed Ken & Tina to the cluebox allowing them to claim the last spot in the final three. Looking ahead, Tina commented, "As we wind into this final leg, how important is the relationship to him and how important am I to him?"

In the middle of the Moscow streets, still trying to find a way to their next destination, Toni & Dallas received the bad news from Phil that they had been eliminated from the race. Dallas remarked, "After running this race, I have so much pride in my mom as well as myself because I realize that everything that I am is because of my mom. I always knew I could count on her, but this just brought it to a whole new level." Through her tears, Toni added, "I feel closer to my son now than I ever have. I have the deepest respect and pride for the man that he has grown up to be. This has been the best experience of my life and I wouldn't change a thing that we did. Not one."
