Eddie and Joy set up two new lamps in their bedroom. Her lamp doesn't go on, his does. He gets in bed and starts to read. Eddie agrees to help fix her lamp later. A few days pass and Joy reminds Eddie that the lamp needs to get fixed, but Eddie's not in a hurry. Joy eventually switches the lamps which begins a lamp-induced power struggle. Later, in the teachers' lounge, Eddie and Jeff talk to a couple of friends. During the conversation Jeff finds out that not all men go to bed at the same time as their wives. Back at home, Jeff asserts his newfound right to go to bed when he wants.
