'Til Death Episode 1.14 The Colleague

Eddie is enjoying dinner with Joy at "Faculty Pasta Night" at the school when he goes for another serving at the buffet line. He runs into Jeff in the line and immediately insults his clothes. Jeff notices the new history teacher Lucy and mentions how he wants to play squash with her. Eddie tells him that since he's now married, he can't make friends with women. Jeff tells him he is crazy but then sees Steph across the room talking to the high school quarterback. He gets jealous and takes her away from him and tells her that the quarterback is a bad kid. Lucy introduces herself to Eddie and asks him to help her with her course syllabus. She gives Eddie her phone number.

Later at Joy and Eddie's house, Eddie throws away Lucy's number. Joy asks why and he says because he can't date another woman while he's married. Joy thinks Eddie is crazy that he thinks his coworker has the hots for him and that he should call her. Eddie replies that he thinks calling her will come back to haunt him. Joy says that their relationship has moved beyond jealousy.

The next day at school, Jeff sees the quarterback hanging out with some kids, one of whom is smoking a pipe. The quarterback tells the kid to stop smoking and he does. He also tells Jeff his wife is a hottie. Jeff is happy he has pleased the quarterback.

Lucy comes over to Eddie's house to go over the course syllabus. Lucy and Eddie find that they are both obsessed with the same author and have a lot in common. Eddie also mentions that he is moderating a panel with that author later in the week and that she should come. Joy gets a little jealous.

Jeff takes Steph to lunch in the school cafeteria to impress the students. He mainly wants to impress the quarterback - Brian.

Joy and Eddie are watching TV at home when Lucy calls and tells him that the History Channel is replaying the Iran-Contra scandal. Eddie forces her to change the channel while he chats with Lucy about the show. Joy slinks off, a little hurt.

Jeff tries to get Steph to go hang out with the high school kids but she doesn't want to go. Jeff tells her he wants to hang out with them because he wants to be cool. She tells him she loves him because he's nerdy and they agree to stay home and be nerdy together.

Joy tries to study history so she can have more in common with Eddie but gets bored and falls asleep. At the panel discussion that night Lucy asks a cogent question and impresses the author. Joy sneaks in and tries to ask a question to impress Eddie, but her question is embarrassing to her, Eddie and the author. Lucy asks another question that Eddie also wanted to ask and Joy feels she needs to "bring out the big guns". She strips down to her tank top and asks flirty questions. Eddie takes her to another part of the bookstore and asks her what's wrong. She tells him she's jealous that Eddie and Lucy bond intellectually. Eddie and Joy feel happy that they can still be jealous over each other.
