'Til Death Episode 1.12 The Hockey Lie

Jeff and Steph are at a hockey game and seems like she's getting really into it making Jeff really pleased. She abruptly informs Jeff that she hates hockey and leaves; Jeff is hurt

The next day at school, Jeff complains to Eddie that Steph hates hockey and that it was the fabric of their relationship. Jeff says he just bought a 20 hockey game seat package and invites Eddie but Eddie declines. Eddie, realizing Jeff is upset that Steph was lying, tells Jeff that lying is a part of marriage. Jeff says he never had to lie to Steph. Eddie then says that true intimacy in marriage comes when the lies end.

Jeff gets home and asks Steph if there is anything else she lied about. She says that she also lied about liking Spinal Tap. Steph then says that there are things Jeff must have lied about such as liking antiquing. He says he likes antiquing. Steph then says that he can still like hockey even though she doesn't like it and that he can go to the game with one of his guy friends. Jeff says he will and that he now has 2 hours to find a guy friend.

Meanwhile, at Eddie's house, Joy is watching TV and is surprised when she notices that Eddie has been sitting in the same room as her for an hour. He says that the fact that she didn't know he was in the room shows how intimate they are and how they can be married but still live separate lives. Joy says they don't have anything separate and that they are the same people. Eddie gets upset when Joy mentions that they are even wearing the same outfit and runs out of the house so he can find his own thing to do. He suggests to Joy that she should call her friend Barbara who is getting a divorce and do her own thing. Eddie goes to Jeff's so they can hang out at the hockey gang.

At the hockey game, Jeff is reminiscing about watching games with Steph. A couple wearing hockey jerseys walks by so Jeff screams at the man that his girlfriend is not a hockey girl and that she is lying about liking hockey. She yells back at Jeff that she is going to kick his ass. Jeff apologizes and she sits down behind Eddie and puts her boot

Joy is at a bar having a drink with Barbara. Barbara explains why her marriage didn't work out and says that she is moving on. She asks Joy where Eddie is, and Joy tells her he's out doing his own things. Barbara suggests they do their own thing and stay out and dance. Joy isn't sure at first but is seduced by the music.

Back at the hockey game, Eddie gets back from the bathroom to find Jeff still upset that Steph doesn't like hockey. Eddie tells Jeff to get over it and that there isn't anything great about hockey. Eddie sits down but the girl behind him keeps kicking his chair and they get into a fight.

At the bar, Joy is drunk and dancing on top of the bar while Barbara can't get any men interested in her.

Jeff gets home and tells Steph that he is home early because they got kicked out of the game. He tries to get her to say she like hockey so they can go back to living the lie. She tries but her lack of sincerity makes him mad. She apologizes to him and explains her reason for lying. He is mollified and she agrees to go to one hockey game a year and wear the jersey sometimes.

Eddie is back at home watching TV when Joy comes home. Joy tells Eddie what a great night she had but Eddie tells her he hates being away from her. Joy is about to go back out again but takes pity on Eddie and decides to stay home with him instead.
