'Til Death Episode 1.03 The Ring

Eddie clips his toenails on the bed and Joy finishes getting ready to go out. The Woodcocks are taking them out to dinner. As they leave, Joy comments that the toilet is still running.

Steph and Jeff thank the Stark's for inviting them to dinner and befriending them. Eddie places his order, and Steph says she was going to order the same thing, but now she won't because it's "not as much fun." Jeff says they like to share each other's food. Eddie changes his order so Steph can have the chicken. Steph relives the story of Jeff's proposal and shows Joy her engagement ring.

Returning home, Joy doesn't know why Eddie didn't think the Woodcock's story was romantic. Joy reminds Eddie that a long time ago, Eddie promised to buy Joy a nicer ring when they had more money. Eddie doesn't know why Joy is so obsessed with getting a ring. Eddie blames the Woodcocks for Joy's behavior.

Jeff excitedly tags along with Eddie as they head to a jewelry store. Jeff tries to help Eddie pick out a nice ring, but Eddie just wants to get out. Eddie hands the jeweler a credit card and tells the man to make it happen.

Eddie waits on the couch as Joy comes home. He flips a bag across the room and hits her in the chest. Joy isn't pleased with how Eddie gave her the ring. Eddie still doesn't understand why she needed the ring after twenty years. Joy heads to the window and points out the Woodcocks are dining by candlelight. Eddie angrily heads next door.

Jeff opens the door and Eddie storms into the Woodcocks. He starts closing the blinds. Jeff and Steph sit mortified as Eddie invites himself to their romantic dinner. Eddie relives how he gave Joy the ring. Steph tells Eddie that it's not the ring, it's the gesture.

Joy returns home to find lit candles and rose petals on the floor. Joy walks upstairs and finds Eddie on the bed, waiting for her. Eddie gets off the bed and then gets down on one knee, ring box in hand. Eddie then proposes to Joy the way he should have years ago. Joy puts on a good face, but something is still wrong. She tells Eddie that it's not as easy for them to be romantic anymore. Joy notices how quiet it is in the bedroom and runs to the bathroom, realizing Eddie fixed the toilet. And something about that turns Joy on.
