She described witnessing locals boarding boats for lunch as “very visually aspirational,” which sparked further investigation into the state’s potential as a setting.

During casting research, connections were identified through Dolores Catania, a cast member from The Real Housewives of New Jersey who appears on the new Rhode Island series as a friend. This link led producers to discover a network of compelling women living in Rhode Island, who eventually became the core cast of the show. Smith noted, “We’ve really fallen in love with them.”

When evaluating new locations, Bravo aims to represent a broad cultural, geographic, and demographic spectrum across the United States. The network also considers the existing lineup of Real Housewives cities to ensure each new series offers something fresh and complementary.
