Danser was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday. The driver and one of the two people in the parked car remain hospitalized in serious condition. The fourth person involved declined treatment.
Born in Castle Rock, Colorado, Danser had lived in Hawaii for 12 years. Her adventurous lifestyle was evident in her social media presence, where she described herself as a boat captain, scuba diver, survivalist, and "pirate." She utilized her skills on "Naked and Afraid," a series that challenges competitors to survive in extreme environments with minimal resources.
Danser's brother, Jake, described her as "magical" and said that her positive energy always illuminated the spaces she occupied. Her father, Dan, expressed his gratitude for the difference she had made in his life and credited her with saving it during a diving trip in Indonesia.
Island Divers Hawaii, where Danser worked, paid tribute to the beloved captain: "Heavy hearts as we say goodbye to a good friend and great captain. Sarah brought such great energy to everyone she came in contact with. You will be greatly missed."
Danser's "Naked and Afraid" co-star Melissa Lauren mourned her passing, remembering her as "one of the most adventurous souls" she had ever met. Lauren praised Danser's resilience as a breast cancer survivor who maintained a positive attitude throughout her treatment.
