The '3 Body Problem' breakout star is set to join the forthcoming series, which stars Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone as Sherlock's parents, directed by Guy Ritchie.

AceShowbiz - Zine Tseng, who rose to prominence in Netflix's "3 Body Problem", has been cast as a lead opposite Hero Fiennes Tiffin in Prime Video's "Young Sherlock", a series directed and executive produced by Guy Ritchie.

Tseng will portray Princess Gulun Shou'an, described as a Chinese princess, Oxford University scholar, and skilled martial artist. She joins a cast that includes Joseph Fiennes and Natascha McElhone as Sherlock's parents.

The series, inspired by the "Young Sherlock Holmes" books by Andy Lane, reimagines Sherlock Holmes at age 19. Disgraced and unformed, he becomes embroiled in a murder mystery at Oxford University that threatens his freedom.

Tseng's casting announcement comes after the renewal of "3 Body Problem" for a second and third season. The three-season format aligns with the show's source material, Liu Cixin's "Remembrance of Earth's Past" trilogy.

Tseng, who has Taiwanese roots, portrays the younger version of protagonist Ye Wenjie in David Benioff, D.B. Weiss and Alexander Woo's Netflix sci-fi drama 3 Body Problem. Through her performance on the series, she earned her Breakthrough Performance in a Drama Series at the inaugural 2024 Gotham TV Awards. Tseng is repped by Ziane Hamel at Artist International Group and Eric Brooks at Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
