Carol Baum, who has produced films starring Jennifer Aniston, Michael Douglas and Dolly Parton, says she can't understand the mainstream popularity of the 'Euphoria' actress.

AceShowbiz - Sydney Sweeney is one of Hollywood's hottest young rising stars, thanks to her role on "Euphoria", but not everyone can understand the mainstream popularity. Hollywood producer Carol Baum, for example, couldn't help share her thoughts on the actress and she didn't mince her words.

"There's an actress who everybody loves now - Sydney Sweeney," Baum told New York Times film critic Janet Maslin at the Jacob Burns Center in Pleasantville, New York, according to Daily Mail. "I don't get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney's movie because I wanted to watch it," she said about "Anyone But You".

Despite trying to get to know Sweeney through the movie, Baum failed to find the charm of the actress as well as the film. "I wanted to know who she is and why everybody's talking about her," she shared. "I watched this unwatchable movie- sorry to people who love this movie - [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other."

Referencing the producing class she teaches at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Baum recalled, "I said to my class, 'Explain this girl to me. She's not pretty, she can't act. Why is she so hot?' " She continued, "Nobody had an answer but then the question was asked, 'Well if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?' "

Baum went on recounting, "I said, 'Well that's a really good question...that's a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know. Your job is to get the movie made.' "

At the same event, Baum also called out Ben Kingsley, who starred in 2007's dramatic comedy "You Kill Me" which she produced. The producer claimed the British actor, who was knighted in 2002, made everyone uncomfortable as he demanded to be called "Sir Ben."

"The crew objected so I called his agent, who is a friend of mine, and I said, 'What are we going to do? We have to make him stop him doing it,' " she recalled. "Chris Andrews, [Kingsley's agent], called Ben up and said, 'Cut the crap, stop doing this, you're alienating everybody' and he stopped. And then after the movie was over, he went back to doing it."

Sweeney, best known for her role as Cassie Howard on HBO's "Euphoria", starred in three films in the past six months, including "Anyone But You", "Madame Web" and "Immaculate".
