Fox's health update includes a frank assessment of his condition. "After 35 years with Parkinson's, this is just my life," he said. "I'm necessarily trying to figure it out for me, I'm figuring it out for everybody."
Fox credits the creation of the Michael J. Fox Foundation as a beacon of hope for those living with Parkinson's. "I think people see me as somebody who's doing something," he said. The foundation funds research to develop groundbreaking treatments and support care centers.
Fox's resilience has been tested by numerous health setbacks beyond Parkinson's. In 2018, a spinal tumor threatened to paralyze him, followed by a fall that broke his arm. "It was a tsunami of misfortune," he recalled.
Despite these challenges, Fox remains realistic about his prognosis. "I'm not going to be 80," he said. However, he approaches death with a sense of acceptance, saying, "If that comes, I'll allow myself that."
