AceShowbiz - Original "Nash Bridges" star Cheech Marin will be returning to TV for the show's planned revival, according to leading man Don Johnson.
The "Miami Vice" star portrayed the titular captain of a Special Investigations Unit of the San Francisco Police Department in the hit series, which ran from 1996 to 2001, and in July this year, it was announced that he would be returning to the role once again.
Now Johnson has revealed Marin will be back as Inspector Joe Dominguez, too.
In an upcoming interview on U.S. daytime show "The Talk", Johnson confirmed, "The Cheech will be back."
He then joked about Marin's reputation as a stoner icon, adding, "I think in this adaptation of 'Nash Bridges', he's going to actually be selling weed. And the cops in San Francisco are actually going to be smoking it."
Johnson explains the new "Nash Bridges" project is set to be developed as a "two-hour television film," which producers hope will generate enough interest for a full series reboot - although it appears he's not too sure about taking on the gig full-time.
"They're looking at it as kind of a way to launch it again as a series," he shared. "Good Lord, I don't know how I feel about that."
Johnson will co-create and co-executive produce the "Nash Bridges" film, which is set to air on U.S. cable network USA in 2020.
