AceShowbiz - Priyanka Chopra is team Meghan Markle for sure. The "Isn't It Romantic" star recently weighed in on the intense scrutiny that the Duchess of Sussex has been receiving following her relationship with Prince Harry.
About the negative press coverage about Meghan, Priyanka told The Sunday Times Magazine, "I've seen that and it's really unfortunate." The wife of Nick Jonas added, "But if there's anyone who can handle it, it's her."
Priyanka went on blaming racism as the reason of the criticism. "Of couse it has to do with racism, it's an obvious reason," she said. "But the beauty of Meg is that she's been herself through all of this."
Priyanka then gushed about her royal best friend, saying that the new mom was still the "same chick" she'd always known even before she dated Harry. "A lot of people got to know her after everything, but I knew her before [she started dating Harry] and she's the same chick," the "Quantico" alum explained.
"We spent hours speaking about the difference that influence and dialogue can make to the world before this whole thing happened, so what you see now is authentically her. She's always been the girl wanting to move the needle," Priyanka continued gushing over the former "Suits" actress.
Priyanka is not the only one who defends Meghan over how media treats her. Back in February, George Clooney criticized the media as he said, "They're just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she's been pursued and vilified. She's a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it's history repeating itself."
Referencing to Harry's mom Princess Diana's fatal car crash in 1997 after she was being chased by paparazzi, the actor added, "We've seen how that ends."
