Signed by over 35,000 devotees, the Change.org petition aimed for HBO executives brands series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss as 'woefully incompetent writers.'

AceShowbiz - Thousands of unsatisfied "Game of Thrones" fans have signed a petition to reshoot the show's eighth and final season.

Over 35,000 devotees have added their names to a Change.org petition demanding executives at HBO rework the final six episodes with a new group of creatives.

"(Show creators) David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on," the originator of the list wrote. "This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

The outcry comes just days after fans blasted the show's penultimate episode, which aired on Sunday, May 12. Many were left more than a little dissatisfied by a fiery dragon rampage, led by Emilia Clarke's "mad queen" character Daenerys Targaryen, and the sudden deaths of a handful of regulars.

The Emmy-winning hit is based on author George R.R. Martin's book series of the same name.

The final episode of the series will air on 19 May.
