In addition to getting banned from retiring, the 41-year-old hip-hop mogul is not allowed to take any extended hiatus.

AceShowbiz - Earlier this year, Kanye West filed lawsuit against EMI and Roc-A-Fella Records in order to "obtain his freedom" and get out of his publishing and label deals. The court documents were heavily redacted at the time, so people didn't know what exactly the reason why the rapper filed the lawsuit. But now, the documents have been made available in full and revealed that the rapper isn't allowed to retire under his contract with EMI.

In the contract, which was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Kanye is ordered to "remain actively involved in writing, recording and producing Compositions and Major Label Albums, as Your Principle occupation. At no time during the Term will you seek to retire as a songwriter, recording artist or producer or take any extended hiatus during which you are not actively pursuing Your musical career in the same basic manner as You have pursued such career to date."

Kanye argued that the contract is no longer enforceable because California Labor Code section 2855 limits personal service contract to no more than seven years. The "Gold Digger" hitmaker signed with EMI in 2003, and that means he's been under the contract for more than ten years.

"It makes no difference under section 2855 whether the contract is otherwise fair, or whether the employer has fulfilled its end of the bargain," he stated in the complaint. "It matters only whether the services began more than seven years ago. There can be no dispute that this happened here. They seven-year period ended under this contract on October 1, 2010."

He continued, "For more than eight years thereafter - more than double the maximum seven-year period California law allows - EMI has enforced rights in violation of California law, depriving Mr. West of the 'breathing period' that California law mandates."

In addition to seeking to get out of the deal and be able to sign a new one with other publishers, Kanye is seeking a declaration of ownership of all the works he delivered to EMI after 2010.
