AceShowbiz - Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro is set to produce a Hollywood remake of Argentinian horror movie "Terrified" with the original film's director.

Demian Rugna wrote and shot the 2017 release, known in Spanish as "Aterrados", which follows the investigation of paranormal activities in a Buenos Aires neighbourhood.

The film became a hit with horror fans, earning it a favourable 82 per cent rating on reviews site Rotten Tomatoes, and now Rugna will be revisiting the project for an English-language revamp.

"The Terminal" writer Sacha Gervasi has been tapped to pen the project, which del Toro will oversee for Fox Searchlight, reports Deadline.com.

Casting details have yet to be released. The original movie starred Maximiliano Ghione, Ariel Chavarria, Elvira Onetto, and Julieta Vallina.
