"Promises" was released on August 17 via Columbia Records and Sony Music. The song was a commercial success in both U.K. and the U.S. It peaked at No. 8 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and at No. 2 on U.K. Singles chart. The song additionally topped U.K. Dance chart.
