Aside from the female emcee, Janet Jackson and The Weeknd will be among the headliners at the Central Park charity event.

AceShowbiz - Cardi B has bumped up her post-pregnancy stage return to perform alongside Janet Jackson and The Weeknd at the 2018 Global Citizen Festival in New York City.

The Bodak Yellow hitmaker, who gave birth to daughter Kulture last month, recently pulled out of plans to join Bruno Mars on tour this autumn after confessing she had "underestimated" the struggles of motherhood.

On Monday, August 06, the rapper's first show as a mother appeared to be set for the Mala Luna festival in Texas over Halloween weekend, October 2018, but now it has been announced that she will be launching her post-baby comeback in her native New York, taking centre stage at the Global Citizen Festival on 29 September.

Janet Jackson and The Weeknd will be among the headliners at the Central Park charity event, which will also feature Shawn Mendes, Janelle Monae, and John Legend as a special guest performer.

Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-lee Furness will emcee the big concert, curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, while fellow actors Forest Whitaker, Danai Gurira, Rachel Brosnahan, Kal Penn, and La La Anthony will serve as co-hosts, as will supermodel Naomi Campbell.

The annual gig, which was launched in 2012, is aimed at putting pressure on world leaders to maintain steps to help eradicate extreme poverty around the globe by 2030.

"When artists, together with their fans, all reach out to a world leader at once, it's tremendously powerful," Global Citizen CEO and founder Hugh Evans tells The Hollywood Reporter.

"When you get this special moment - an artist together with their fans either tweeting or making a phone call or writing emails or signing a petition all in unison - the wave of global impact means that the private sector and business leaders have to respond."

Tickets to the show are free to fans who sign up to become a part of the international advocacy organisation and agree to offer support to education, gender equality, hygiene and other campaigns in their community and beyond.

Global Citizen organisers have also announced another big show in Johannesburg, South Africa on 2 December to honour the life of late President Nelson Mandela in his centenary year.

Campbell will host the Mandela 100 charity bash, which will be headlined by Beyonce and Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Pharrell Williams, Usher, and Chris Martin.
