The 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' actor struggles to contain his laughter while acting out a hilarious scene with the comedian in a 'Tonight Show' segment called 'Mad Lib Theatre'.

AceShowbiz - Tom Cruise struggled to keep a straight face during a TV talk show skit on Monday night, July 23.

The actor appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote, Mission: Impossible - Fallout but before they chatted about the new action film, host Jimmy recruited Tom for a game of Mad Lib Theatre.

After asking Tom a series of questions and random phrases, the pair acted out a scene using the words - leading to some hilarious results.

"Good evening, my little cookie," began Jimmy while acting as a train commuter, with Tom pausing as he attempted to cover a laugh before he stated, "Special Director Polliwog. It's good to see you again."

"I'm here with your next mission, a criminal organisation - the world's most amazing sanitation engineers - hacked into the government's Walkman, stealing their top-secret report on vintage sneakers," Jimmy continued, causing his co-star to giggle, before Tom added: "Come here darling."

The 56-year-old star kept going with the dramatic scene, though stopped several times to laugh, especially during his closing line, "(I prepare for tense missions) by waking up every morning, going up on the roof and kissing and by repeating my own personal mantra, 'Poopity scoop, Poopity scoop.'"

Back in the studio, Tom and Jimmy chatted about Mission: Impossible - Fallout and the series of stunts his character Ethan Hunt performs. While the action man wasn't worried about jumping across rooftops or climbing walls he did become particularly anxious in a scene where he was required to free fall from a rope while dangling from a flying helicopter.

"Yes (I get scared). It was funny because when I got up to the top of that skid (landing gear), I go into a free fall and there was just a moment where I'm thinking, 'I don't want to let go, I don't want to do it,'" he sighed.
