'Creepshow' TV Series Is in the Works, Taps Greg Nicotero to Helm

It's reported that each episode of the anthology series will follow original fun and scary stories.

AceShowbiz - Shudder is bringing back "Creepshow" as it's developing a TV adaptation of the 1982 horror anthology film. The new project has "The Walking Dead" director Greg Nicotero attached as director. In addition to helming, Nicotero will executive produce and oversee the show.

"Creepshow" TV anthology series, which was based on the iconic anthology film written by Stephen King, is set to fulfill the promise of the original film's famous tagline "The Most Fun You'll Ever Have Being Scared." It's reported that each episode will follow original fun and scary stories. Multiple Emmy-winning company KNB EFX Group Inc. will handle the creature and make-up fx.

" 'Creepshow' is one of the most beloved and iconic horror anthologies from two masters of the genre, George A. Romero and Stephen King," said Shudder general manager Craig Engler. "We're thrilled to continue their legacy with another master of horror, Greg Nicotero, as we bring a new 'Creepshow' TV series exclusively to Shudder members."

Nicotero added, " 'Creepshow' is a project very close to my heart! It is one of those titles that embraces the true spirit of horror...thrills and chills celebrated in one of its truest art forms, the comic book come to life! I'm honored to continue the tradition in the 'spirit' in which it was created."

Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, and Eric Woods from the Cartel will also executive produce the show alongside Monster Agency Productions' Nicotero and Brian Witten as well as Taurus Entertainment's Robert Dudelson, James Dudelson and Jordan Kizwani. They are joined by Russell who executive produces for Striker Entertainment, while Marc Mostman is co-executive producing.

"His experience and leadership will ensure that the series is of the highest quality and will help to excite horror fans around the world."

Directed by George Romero, the original film starred Hal Holbrook, Leslie Nielsen, Ted Danson and Adrienne Barbeau.
