When asked about the idea of the spin-off movie, the 'Justice League' actress says, 'I would love that, I think we need that.'

AceShowbiz - Actress Amy Adams is calling on DC Comics bosses to give Superman love interest Lois Lane her own spin-off film.

The "American Hustle" star has portrayed the fictional Daily Planet reporter since the 2013 superhero reboot, "Man of Steel", in which she featured opposite Henry Cavill as Superman.

Amy reprised the role for 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", and last year's "Justice League", but now she would love to see Lois take centre stage - even if she isn't invited back to lead the proposed project.

"I would love that, I think we need that," she told breakfast show "Good Morning America" about the idea of a standalone Lois Lane movie.

"She's such a great character and there's a whole cannon of hers as well, of stories that have not been told, so whether it's me or not, I'm in full support of a Lois film."

In the meantime, Amy has used her skills as a reporter onscreen for the TV adaptation of "Sharp Objects", a new drama based on the 2006 novel of the same name by "Gone Girl" author Gillian Flynn.

She stars as Camille Preaker, a journalist who returns to her hometown after a short stay at a psychiatric hospital and begins investigating a murder involving two young girls.

The role required Amy to dress down and go makeup free at times, and she was thrilled to play a woman who isn't always so put-together, because it mirrors her own real life as a busy working mum.

Explaining why she found the character so liberating, she laughed, "'Cause I'm a mess! Not always, but I have those times and it's really freeing to show that side of you and just be open and honest about who you are, and there are times in there where I'm not wearing any makeup, and what you look like (bare-faced), it's just freeing in this world of everything looking so perfect and retouched; it's nice to just show who you are."

In addition to "Sharp Objects", Amy is also preparing to revisit her fairy tale princess character Giselle for a long-gestating sequel to her breakout role in 2007's "Enchanted".

"Disenchanted" has been in pre-production since it was announced in 2016, but Amy has assured fans they will receive an update on its progress in the near future.

"It's in development, so we're hoping to be able to move forward with that pretty soon," she added.
