Gucci Mane and Quavo Named Songwriters of the Year at 2018 ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Awards

The accolade made Quavo a double winner at the event as Migos was honored with the ASCAP Vanguard Award.

AceShowbiz - Rappers Gucci Mane and Quavo have been named the joint winners of the Songwriter of the Year prize at the 2018 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards.

The hip-hop stars were among those celebrated by officials at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) organisation during its annual ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday night, June 21.

The accolade made Quavo a double winner at the event, as his group Migos was also honoured with the ASCAP Vanguard Award for its impact on the urban music industry in the past year.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar's Humble. was declared the Top Rap Song, and Bruno Mars' That's What I Like won Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song.

The reunited members of R&B group Xscape were also feted with the ASCAP Golden Note Award, presented to iconic artists who have reached great career milestones.

Previous Golden Note honourees include Alicia Keys, JAY-Z, Usher, and Lauryn Hill.
