AceShowbiz - Can you imagine "Haunted Elevator", a fan-favorite "Saturday Night Live" Halloween sketch last year, with Lady GaGa in it? During an interview with Vulture about the history of the character and the hilarious sketch, it was revealed that the Mother Monster was initially set to make a cameo in the sketch, starring opposite Tom Hanks who played Mr. Pumpkins.
Cast members Bobby Moynihan and Mikey Day said that the "Million Reasons" songstress, who served as the musical guest in the episode, was set to take the role of the wife of Hanks' character.
"When the doors open and it's just the skeletons, that was originally gonna be us and Lady GaGa," Moynihan explained, describing the sketch. "Instead of us making sex noises, it would be her."
Day added that GaGa would be wearing "a jacket with witches on it." He further explained, "You think she's gonna say 'Wanda Witches' or something, but she goes, 'I'm Mrs. David Pumpkins,' " noting that her character would be "weird."
Streeter Seidell, who penned the script alongside Moynihan and Day, said that the reason the "Bad Romance" singer dropped out from the gig was because she wanted to give her sole focus on her musical performance. "Sadly, she wanted to focus on her performance for the show," he said.
Seidell further said that GaGa "read it and liked it, but it was just a matter of time." He went on saying, "Her musical set was pretty involved."
Hanks, who teased the return of Mr. Pumpkins before the show's season 43 premiere, will reprise his role as the quirky character in an upcoming half-hour animated short. The animated David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special is scheduled to air during upcoming October 28 episode of "Saturday Night Live" at 11.30 P.M. on NBC.
