Fans of Lee Soo Hyuk must be very heartbroken following his shocking announcement. After it was reported that he would enlist to the military this week, the model-turned-actor confirmed that he would begin his mandatory military service today (August 10).

The "Scholar Who Walks the Night" actor apologized to his fans for keeping his enlistment date secret. "I wanted to tell my fans beforehand while spending some time with them, but I feel sorry that I didn't get the chance to do so," he said in a statement. "I will carry out my duties faithfully and return in a healthy state. I want to express my love and gratitude to those who are supporting me."

YG Entertainment later added, "Lee Soo Hyuk will be enlisting in the afternoon. We didn't release a statement earlier because we wanted to respect his wishes to enlist quietly."

Fans expressed their sadness by commenting on one of Soo Hyuk's photos on Instagram. "I'm really sad, I haven't prepared my heart yet @leesoohyuk. Stay healthy and come back as a cooler person. Fighting," a fan wrote. Another commented, "This is way too sudden, I'm so sad. Please come back quickly I'll always be waiting for you."

Others managed to keep their composure and wished him all the best. "Please come back safe and healthy and i will be waiting for your return. Take care, Soo Hyuk!" one of them said. "Bye! Will miss you! can't wait for you to come back! Stay safe and healthy," another commented.
