Arnold Schwarzenegger Gives Up on 'Celebrity Apprentice' Because of Donald Trump
TV

The 'Terminator' actor cites 'baggage' as the reason behind his departure from the show after sitting as a judge for one season only.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is done with "The Celebrity Apprentice". The former Governor of California was brought in as a replacement for Donald Trump, but the actor-turned-politician decided to pack his bags and leave the show after one season only.

"I loved every second of working with NBC and Mark Burnett," he said. "Everyone - from the celebrities to the crew to the marketing department - was a straight 10, and I would absolutely work with all of them again on a show that doesn't have this baggage."

Arnie didn't mention Trump directly, but he made it quite clear in another statement to Empire what "baggage" he referred to. "It's not about the show because everyone I ran into came up to me and said, 'I love the show," he said, "but I turned it off because as soon as I read Trump's name I'm outta there!' "

Donald Trump has been criticizing Arnie despite his initial promise to devote zero time to the show. "They hired a big, big movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger to take my place, and we know how that turned out," the President said. "Ratings went right down the tubes, it's been a total disaster." He also tweeted once, "Now compare him to my season 1, but who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary."

"Hey Donald, I have a great idea. Why don't we switch jobs?" Arnold fired back at the POTUS. "You take over TV because you're such an expert on ratings and I take over your job and then people can finally sleep comfortably again."
