'Supergirl': How Does Kara Feel About Alex Coming Out?

Melissa Benoist says Kara will be supportive of her foster sister's sexual identity.

AceShowbiz - After coming to a realization about her sexual identity, Alex Danvers will finally come out as gay to Kara in the next episode of "Supergirl". This revelation will, of course, cause a change of dynamic between the two sisters, at least at first.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told TVLine that at first Alex would mistake Kara's reaction for not being entirely supportive through this self-discovery. As Kreisberg teased, "Alex and Kara have a little misunderstanding, actually. She thinks Kara might not be OK with it."

But Kreisberg said that the misunderstanding between the two would soon clear up. It is obvious that on the series, Kara would unlikely be prejudiced or have any objections whatsoever to Alex. She will be supportive of her sister's new journey as member of LGBTQ community.

However, she feels awful and blames herself, as Kreisberg explained, "Kara feels like their entire childhood was relegated to worrying about keeping Kara's secret, so she feels awful that maybe if she hadn't come along, Alex would have been able to reconcile this aspect of herself sooner."

After Alex's coming out, everything will only make the sisters closer, as Melissa Benoist said, "The bond between the two is unbreakable, and those two are inseparable." Kreisberg added, "All this does make them love each other more, which is something that was really important to us. As people will find out this season, everybody treats Alex with the love and respect that she deserves." After all, whatever happens, Kara's going to be there.

The new episode of "Supergirl" titled "Changing" airs on Monday, November 14 at 8 P.M. ET on The CW.
