Gabby Douglas Apologizes After Missing VMAs due to Health Issues


The Olympic gymnast feels sad for ditching the MTV Video Music Awards as she is recovering from a serious infection.
Gabby Douglas gives update on her condition and apologized for skipping MTV Video Music Awards due to health issues. The gymnast was hospitalized for a serious infection. "Out of hospital&resting comfortably! #FinalFive sad I can't be with u 2 present tonite," she tweeted. "@MTV thank u xoxo #VMAs."

Douglas was supposed to take the stage with her teammates Simone Biles, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian and Aly Raisman to present Best Female Video. Biles explained her friend's absence during the show, "The fifth member of our team, Gabby Douglas, is having medical issues and unfortunately couldn't make it tonight. 'Feel better, Gabby!' "



The Final Five became viral sensations for winning multiple medals for Team USA. Hernandez is signed on for "Dancing with the Stars" season 23 while Douglas is heading to Miss America pageant show. "Excited to be a judge at this year's @MissAmerica Competition! See you in Atlantic City, 9/11 on ABC. #MissAmerica," she announced.
