Marvel Studios and Disney's "Captain America: Civil War" launched to a mighty $181.8 million in the U.S. over the weekend. The third installment of the "Captain America" film series took over the fifth slot of the five best domestic opening weekend of all time from "Iron Man 3", which opened to $174.1 million in 2013.

"Civil War" is now joining other four movies with biggest opening ever, including "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" at $248 million, "Jurassic World" at $208.8 million, "The Avengers" at $207.4 million and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" at $191.3 million. Four of them were released by Disney.

Overseas, the sequel to "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" took in another $220 million this weekend, including $96 million in China, for a foreign total of $496.6 million and worldwide haul of $678 million after just 12 days in release.

"The Jungle Book" came in second place in its fourth weekend with approximately $21.9 million. "Mother's Day (2016)" nabbed a distant third place with an estimated $9.01 million. "The Huntsman: Winter's War" followed at fourth place with approximately $3.6 million, while the modestly-budgeted comedy "Keanu" grabbed the fifth place with around $3.1 million.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", meanwhile, began to vanish from U.S. theaters in its seventh weekend. The DC superhero flick saw a 73|percent| plunge in business to around $1 million for a 10th place.
