Lauren Graham also shared her own announcement of the Netflix revival by showing the jacket she stole from the set eight years ago.

AceShowbiz - It was just a matter of making it official. On Friday, January 29, Netflix finally announces the revival of "Gilmore Girls" which brings back original stars Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson and Kelly Bishop.

"From Stars Hollow to Hartford to New Haven to Netflix. Welcome back, girls. An all new season of Gilmore Girls coming to Netflix in 2016," the streaming service captioned an Instagram pic of Graham and Bledel's photo on top of a drawer.

Graham also shared her own announcement on Twitter, writing, "I CAN NOW CONFIRM: it's time for me, and this jacket I stole in 2007, to return to work." In the attached pic, she was holding a garment that partly showed the words Property of Gilmore Girls Costume Department.

Apart from the four leads who will reprise their original roles, Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena are also back as Kirk and Lane respectively. There is yet a title for the new series. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is shepherding the revival and executive producing with Daniel Palladino. The pair, who worked on the original series, will write and direct all episodes.

News of a revival first showed up in October. It was reported back then that the revival will consist of four 90-minute episodes or mini-movies, rather than being made into series. During a reunion panel with the show's cast at ATX TV Festival in June last year, Sherman-Palladino said, "It would have to be the right everything - the right format, the right timing. If it ever happened, I promise we'll do it correctly."
