Meek Mill Donates $50,000 to Flint Water Crisis, Challenges 50 Cent to Do the Same

The charitable move reportedly has nothing to do with the court-mandated community service he was assigned to after violating his probation.

AceShowbiz - Despite potentially facing lower income, Meek Mill decided to donate some of his money to help the people of Flint, Michigan. Mill splashed out $50,000 for the city which is in the middle of a crisis after its water system was contaminated with lead.

The Philadelphia rapper sent the money to the Flint Child and Family Health Development Fund and is planning to send 60,000 bottles of water to the Eastern Michigan Food Bank. He also encourages other celebrities, including rival 50 Cent, to match his donation.

"I got 50k to donate to waters ... Let's see if we can have @50cent match me! I'm pretty sure 'flint' supported us!" Mill wrote on Instagram earlier this week. On Wednesday, January 20, he posted a screenshot of the report about his donation and wrote, "#justwater."

Mill is doing good for himself. Besides donating money, he delivered motivational speeches and helped out at schools, homeless shelters and hospitals in his native Philly. The rapper, who faced probation stemming from a 2008 drug and gun case, is doing a court-mandated community service but his water donation reportedly has nothing to do with it.

A harsh court ruling in December banned him from working or performing before a February 5 sentencing. A Pennsylvania judge also prohibited the "Chiraq" rapper from leaving the state, thus blocking some of his chance to make money.
