Artist of the Week: Janet Jackson
Music

The singer is releasing 'Unbreakable', her first album in seven years, on October 2 via her label Rhythm Nation.

AceShowbiz - After a seven-year hiatus from recording music, Janet Jackson proves she's still one of the biggest stars in the industry. The R&B/pop diva has been receiving warm welcome back from fans ever since she announced a new album and its accompanying world tour.

The album called "Unbreakable" is due out on October 2. Coming as her first full-length since 2008's "Discipline" which was met with disappointment and prompted the singer to part ways with her label Island Records, the upcoming LP is slated to arrive under Jackson' own label Rhythm Nation. She has partnered with BMG to distribute the project.

As a preview of her new music, Jackson released last summer the album's lead single "No Sleeep", which has been sitting at No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs chart. She then dropped the title track "Unbreakable" which was basically a thank-you letter to her loyal fans. The latest off the effort to have been unveiled is "Burnitup!", a club-friendly song featuring guest verse from Missy Elliott.

For the album, Jackson reunited with producer-songwriter team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who recently described the record as the diva's "gift to all of her fans who have steadfastly stood by her." They explained, "It is a subject for conversation, a plea for compassion, and a call for action from someone who's come a long way, but's got a long way to go, and has much to say about it. In other words, if you want to know what's on her mind you only have to listen."
