J.J. Abrams is staging the return of Warwick Davis to "Star Wars" franchise. The director has hired the 3-foot-6 actor for a not-yet-known role in "Star Wars Episode VII".

Davis famously played Ewok leader Wicket in "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" and went on reprising that role in the TV movies "The Ewok Adventure" and "Ewoks: The Battle for Endor". He also appeared as Weazel and Wald in "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace".

Davis' involvement in the latest franchise was announced at the film's official YouTube page under the title "Will Warwick Davis Appear in Star Wars: Episode VII?" In the video, Davis joked on the amount of time it took for him to get invitation to appear in the film by wearing a fake beard.

"Star Wars Episode VII" is three weeks away from wrapping up the production. The film is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
