Negative headlines keep coming from players at the NFL. Following domestic violence cases involving some players, another footballer Jonathan Dwyer of the Arizona Cardinals has been deactivated by the team after he was arrested on the charges of aggravated assault on Wednesday, September 17.

"We became aware of these allegations this afternoon when notified by Phoenix police and are cooperating fully," the team said in a statement. "Given the serious nature of the allegations we have taken the immediate step to deactivate Jonathan from all team activities."

According to the Phoenix Police Department, the Wednesday arrest in Tempe, Arizona stemmed from two incidents involving his 27-year-old wife Kayla and a 18-month-old child on July 21 and 22. Sgt. Trent Crump said that Dwyer hit the woman, causing a fracture. He allegedly also threw a shoe at the baby, but he could not elaborate on the details.

Law enforcement officers went to Dwyer's house in response to the alleged domestic violence reported by a neighbor, but Dwyer's wife said he wasn't at home and that she just had an argument on the phone. Dwyer's wife later said that back then he hid in a bathroom. According to Crump, the next day, the footballer threw his wife's phone out of the window to prevent her from calling the police. Dwyer admitted to having arguments, but he denied physically abusing the woman and child.
