'Constantine' Casts 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Star as Jim Corrigan

Irish actor Emmett J. Scanlan will play the New Orleans homicide detective, who is also known as The Spectre, on the new NBC series.

AceShowbiz - NBC's "Constantine" has found its Det. Jim Corrigan. Irish actor Emmett J. Scanlan, who recently starred in "Guardians of the Galaxy" as a head riot guard, lands the recurring role on the upcoming supernatural drama series.

Corrigan is a New Orleans homicide detective "who doesn't let ... red tape stop him from putting away the bad guys, even if the bad guys turn out to be inhuman," so Entertainment Weekly describes the character. He is a potential ally to Matt Ryan's Constantine. In the comic books, Corrigan eventually becomes the avenging spirit The Spectre.

Based on DC Comics character, "Constantine" follows the titular character, an occult detective who is thrust into the role of defending the human race against dark forces from beyond. It is set to premiere Friday, October 24 at 10 P.M. on NBC.

Emmett Scanlan is known in the U.K. for his roles on BBC's "The Fall" and "Atlantis". He was also a regular cast member of British soap opera "Hollyoaks" from 2010-2013.
