Hot on heels of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's confirmation that he had met with Warner Bros' executive to discuss a DC Comics project comes new report that he is circling a Green Lantern role in "Man of Steel 2". ThinkMcFlyThink's Peter Georgiou tweets that the wrestler-turned-actor is in talks to play John Stewart.

Denzel Washington is also a rumored contender for the role portrayed by his "Safe House" co-star Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 big screen adaptation "Green Lantern" which was panned by critics. The previous film focused on test pilot Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern recruit before former marine Stewart.

The Rock posted a picture of himself wearing a Batman t-shirt during the Twitter Q&A session in which he teased the DC project. He hasn't said a word about the latest Green Lantern rumor, but last year when one of his followers proposed the idea of him donning the green suit, he jovially replied, "Funny U said that ..."

Tracing another rumor back in 2010, the "Race to Witch Mountain" actor was once mentioned as a candidate to play the new Clark Kent. He, however, quickly debunked the report, "Just to be clear... as of today, I am not 'negotiating' to play SuperMan ...but keep your fingers crossed and thanks for the wishful thinking!"

The "Man of Steel" sequel is due July 17, 2015. Zack Snyder is back as a director, Henry Cavill returns as Superman, and Amy Adams reprises her role as Lois Lane. it's expected to be a platform to introduce Justice League with Ben Affleck cast as Batman and Gal Gadot tapped as Wonder Woman.

The Rock will next play the titular demigod in "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" due July 25 and will reprise his role as Luke Hobbs in "Fast and Furious 7". He is also attached to star in two other new flicks "San Andreas" and "Not Without Hope".
