The first footage from the Liberace biopic also sees Douglas' titular character sporting various extravagant outfits and surprising Damon's Scott Thorson with a fancy car.

AceShowbiz - HBO has shared the first footage from "Behind the Candelabra" in a new teaser. The 30-minute snippet sees Michael Douglas' Liberace behind the piano, wearing extravagant costumes on stage.

The video also teases an intimate scene featuring Liberace and his younger lover Scott Thorson, played by Matt Damon, in a bath tub together. In another scene, Thorson looks amazed as Liberace shows him a fancy car.

Based on Thorson's 1988 memoir "Behind the Candelabra: My Life With Liberace", the upcoming TV movie follows flamboyant pianist-vocalist Wladziu Valentino Liberace who embarked on a secretive five-year love affair with Thorson despite their age difference and seemingly different worlds. The story will depict their tempestuous relationship, from their first meeting backstage at the Las Vegas Hilton to their bitter and public break-up.

Though admitting that shooting sex scenes are always awkward, Damon said he and Douglas had no difficulty filming their intimate scene in the biopic. "The scene where I'm behind him and going at him, we did that in one take," he shared. "We do it. Cut. There's a long pause. And then you just hear Steven go, 'Well... I have no notes.' "

"Behind the Candelabra" is directed by Steven Soderbergh with the script written by Richard LaGravanese. Gregory Jacobs, Susan Ekins and Michael Polaire produce it, while Jerry Weintraub serves as an executive producer. The TV movie will premiere May 26 on HBO.
