Hot on heels of his highly-praised performance in "The Master", Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman is now preparing himself to serve behind the lens. Courtesy of Variety, the 45-year-old thesp has signed on to helm a Depression Era ghost story called "Ezekiel Moss".

The film, which script is included in 2011 Black List, is set up at Mandalay Pictures with Keith Bunin serving as the scribe. It centers on an imaginative young boy who lives in a small town and befriends a mysterious drifter. He may have the ability to speak with the dead.

Mandalay's Cathy Schulman says of Hoffman's involvement in the project, "Hoffman is one of the great talents of our generation." She gushes, "We are thrilled to be in his capable hands directing this captivating and gothic exploration of faith and the supernatural."

"Ezekiel Moss" will mark Hoffman's second directorial stint after 2010's "Jack Goes Boating". The New York native will next be seen starring as Plutarch Heavensbee in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire", and will also be seen in "A Late Quartet" later this fall.
