The recently-released music video's popularity is partly his fans' attempt to make the video the most watched offering on the video-sharing site.

AceShowbiz - Justin Bieber's new music video has set a record-breaking number of views on YouTube. "Boyfriend", which was premiered on Thursday, May 3 night, received more than 8 million views within just 24 hours.

The number posted by Bieber's video shattered previous record breaker, Rihanna's "Where Have You Been", which was released a week prior. As of Sunday morning, "Boyfriend" has garnered more than 13 million hits, thanks partly to the campaign that the heartthrob has launched on Twitter to make "Boyfriend" the most popular video ever posted on YouTube.

On related news, the model that becomes Bieber's love interest on the video has clarified that her relationship with the pop star was strictly professional. Bieber could not take his hands off Rachel Barnes in the video, making many Beliebers jealous.

Barnes explained to TMZ that the chemistry was "only for work", adding that she has tied the knot to another man. "Justin and Selena are adorably inseparable and I, myself, am already married," she said. "I'm a Belieber, but he's not my boyfriend."
