AceShowbiz - Pixar Animation Studios has announced details on a number of its upcoming projects at the 2012 CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday, April 24. The forthcoming films include an untitled Pixar Movie about the Dia de los Muertos, an untitled Pixar Movie that takes you inside the mind and "The Good Dinosaur".
The animation studio announced that it has tapped "Toy Story 3" helmer Lee Unkrich and producer Darla Anderson for the movie about Mexican holiday to honor the dead, known as Dia de los Muertos. No other details were revealed about the new project, but Pixar confirmed that it will be an original story and not be based on any previous source material.
The second project "that takes you inside the mind" will be directed by "Monsters, Inc." helmer Peter Docter and is slated for a June 19, 2015 release in the U.S. Plot details of the film are still unclear, but Pixar promised it will "take you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind."
As described in the announcement, the film will "take audiences on incredible journeys into extraordinary worlds: from the darkest depths of the ocean to the top of the tepui mountains in South America; from the fictional metropolis of Monstropolis to a futuristic fantasy of outer space."
As for "The Good Dinosaur", the studio confirmed that the film, which was first announced in August 2011, is set to open wide in the U.S. on May 30, 2014. The movie will be set in a world where an asteroid didn't actually hit the Earth, thus allowing the dinosaur to keep living and evolving.
"We previously announced a film that was titled The Untitled Pixar Movie About Dinosaurs," Walt Disney Pictures animation chief John Lasseter Lasseter said. "Now, I think this title rocks, but I am absolutely the only one at the studio. Sooooo, today we'd like to announce an even better title we've come up with for it - this is now going to be titled 'The Good Dinosaur'."
