AceShowbiz - %cGeorge Stephanopolous% is heading back to "This Week". The 50-year-old "Good Morning America" co-host is set to return to the ABC weekly program starting January 8, 2012, replacing %cChristiane Amanpour%, while still co-hosting the weekday news and talk show.
Amanpour, who has hosted "This Week" since August 2010, quit the show to return as an international reporter for CNN, where she had worked for 27 years before. The role will allow the Board Member at the IWMF to appear as a "global affairs" anchor for ABC in the United States and as an anchor of weekday program for CNN International.
"It's been an incredible experience to have had a ringside seat to democracy in action at 'This Week'. It's been an incredible honor to anchor such a prestigious program and I thank all of you who have helped me on that journey," Amanpour said in a statement to address her departure from "This Week". On her new role, she gushed, "This role is groundbreaking, bold and very different. I am thrilled and honored."
The 53-year-old wife of journalist %cJames Rubin% has previously served for two networks at the same time. About eight years ago, she was hired as a special contributor for CBS' "60 Minutes" while still working for CNN.
