Damon turns to Bonnie for a help after having a violent encounter with a spirit of werewolf Mason Lockwood whom he suspects is still mad at him.

In the spirit of Halloween, "The Vampire Diaries" brings back some dead characters when it returns next week. As Mystic Falls prepares to celebrate the traditional Illumination Night, the town is invaded by spirits of the dead. One of them is werewolf Mason Lockwood who may hold a grudge against Damon after he and Alaric conspired to kill Mason.
While Damon turns to Bonnie to get help in finding the reason behind the ghosts' surprising power, Elena convinces Jeremy to use his connection to the other side to help her find a new way to reach Stefan which leads Jeremy to a terrible choice. Additionally, Alaric discovers a long-hidden clue to the past.
Also returning in "Ghost World" are Bonnie's grandmother Sheila and vampire Lexi. The episode will air Thursday, October 20 at 8/7c on The CW.
