After she was rumored in the running for starring in "Total Recall" reboot, Jessica Biel now may be closer to land one of two lead female roles in the forthcoming movie. Variety reports that Sony Pictures has offered the role to the "Valentine's Day" actress, although there is no negotiation yet.

Previously, Colin Farrell has been tapped to star as the main character of the sci-fi film. Bryan Cranston also reportedly has joined the cast to play villainous Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who is secretly planning to invade New Shanghai.

"Total Recall" originally featured Sharon Stone who played Lori, and Rachel Ticotin who took the role of Melina. As for the main male character, Arnold Schwarzenegger was the depicter of Douglas Quaid.

The plot of the upcoming movie is reportedly different from the original version. While in the original film Quaid is haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars, in the new version, he is not sure whether he belongs to Euromerica and New Shanghai.

The remake of the 1990 film is directed by Len Wiseman, with Kurt Wimmer writing the script. Neal H. Moritz is on board to serve as producer of the movie, which will hit theaters across the nation on August 3, 2012.
