In his lawsuit, actor Chuck Zito said FX network is obliged to pay him $5 million for using his 2004 idea on a motorcycle gang series.

FX Network has been slapped with a $5 million lawsuit based on accusation that the network has stolen an idea to be used on "Sons of Anarchy". Chuck Zito, a former bike gang member turned actor has filed the legal papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, June 15, demanding a sum of money to be paid.

"FX was obligated to pay Zito the reasonable value of his ideas, hire him to work on the series and afford him screen credit as creator," the lawsuit read. "Defendants breached an implied-in-fact contract with defendant."

Zito said he pitted the idea of a motorcycle series called "Nomads" to FX in 2004 and claimed that he entered an "implied-in-fact" contract with the network, where if his ideas are used, then he would be compensated and credited. But FX decided to pass on it. Two years later, it teamed up with "The Shield" producer Kurt Sutter to develop a project about bikers which they called "Sons of Anarchy".

Zito believed that the Emmy-nominated series is "substantially similar" to his outlaw motorcycle club idea and that FX should pay him $5,000,000 for the loss. FX has not commented on the lawsuit.
