Working on their next release, Arctic Monkeys' drummer said that they may release one-off singles instead of a whole album.

Trying a new approach to keep it fresh, Arctic Monkeys are planning to drop one-off singles that won't be released with an album. The four-piece that had just dropped 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' as their second album in April this year, are heading to the studio to work on it.

"We've got things written, several new ideas and new songs that are ready to record," drummer Matt Helders told BBC 6Music. "We will do recording early on. We might not necessarily record and then release an album. We might just do little bits at once or (release) singles."

"There's really nothing planned. It just depends how it goes, which is a nice change. We can go into the studio and not necessarily have to have something done by, like, the end of the month. It'll be like, 'Just see what happens'"

The band also told The Big Issue that they have penned a new song inspired by British daytime talk show host, Jeremy Kyle. Helders said, "We had a power cut on the bus and while we were parked at the side of the road I got this acoustic guitar out. Some people were still in bed but we did this song for about six minutes about Jeremy Kyle. About this lie detector test."

In the bag, there is also 'The Sand Trap' that have been played live in U.K. several times and "there's a couple more new one's that we haven't played in England before," said Helders before bassist Nick O'Malley jokingly added that the singles may be compiled under the name "One Wacky Weekend."

Meanwhile, 'Favorite Worst Nightmare' was named the third most downloaded album in iTunes this year. The first one is claimed by Amy Winehouse's 'Back to Black'.
