With production starting on Monday, July 16 in Germany, what's left as a question on "Valkyrie" now is certainly its release date in theaters and apparently, the execs at United Artists were quick enough to pick it up.
According to ComingSoon.net, the studio has come up with intention to launch the WWII thriller on August 8, 2008, during which several other big screen titles are also set to grace the audience. Among those scheduled for the same release day are New Line Cinema's "Journey 3-D", Walt Disney Pictures' "South of the Border", and Columbia Pictures' comedy "The Pineapple Express."
Based on actual events of July Plot happening in the 1940s, "Valkyrie" takes focus on German officer Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg who, along with several others, carried out the famous assassination attempt on Nazi leader Adolf Hitler at the height of World War II. "Superman Returns" helmer Bryan Singer is directing from script by Christopher McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander with Tom Cruise toplining.
