Barely obtained film rights to make "Choke" based on the Chuck Palahniuk's novel, Universal has quickly added one more potential film project to develop. According to Variety, the giant company has just acquired Matthew Sand's spec script "American by Blood" for Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall to produce through their Kennedy/Marshall Company banner.

Adapted from Andrew Huebner's novel of the same title, pic will follow three U.S. Army scouts as they become the first from their troop to arrive at the horrifying aftermath of the battle of Little Bighorn and are assigned to track down the Sioux leader, Crazy Horse. No word yet on the names of film crew, including director and cast members.

Aside from "American", Sand has also been appointed to adapt the script of "Clockwork" from Philip Pullman's 1996 book entitled "Clockwork or All Wound Up." He is currently penning the screenplay of "Valiant (2006)" for Paramount Pictures.
