Intended to be filmed in Atlanta, the movie's screenplay is adapted from the original feature by Andrew Klavan while Eric Valette will handle the directing matters. Alcon Entertainment, Intermedia and Kadokawa Pictures USA set to produce with Warner Bros. Pictures taking care the film's distribution.

Similar to the original version, the story follows a college student played by Sossamon whose friends begin receiving cell phone messages from the future in which they hear themselves being murdered to later find out that she too is about to become the victim of the terror.
