Musician Yanni will not face charges for assault after a dispute with his girlfriend Silvia Barthes

AceShowbiz - The Florida state attorney in Palm Beach County has on Friday March 31st, 2006 announced that musician Yanni won't face charges stemming from a fight with his girlfriend Silvia Barthes earlier this month.

The musician was arrested in Florida on March 3rd after Silvia reported an assault to police. Silvia alleged that Yanni shook her, tossed her on a bed and body-slammed her. The argument apparently erupted after Yanni ordered her to pack her bags and move out.

As of Yanni, he did admit that there was an argument but said he only grabbed Barthes after she kicked him in the groin. And in court paperwork released Friday, prosecutors said that "while there was probable cause for arrest," no charges would be pursued.

After being cleared of the allegations, Yanni said "The allegations claimed were always false and completely without any merit. Unfortunately, celebrities are often seen as easy targets and are very vulnerable to these kinds of baseless allegations and false demands for money. I want to thank my family, friends, fans and everyone who have supported me through this very difficult and painful time. I love the Florida community in which I live and will continue to have faith in our justice system."
