Mr. Trengove shoots the film in intimate wide-screen, getting in close to the characters as they tamp down explosive feelings, often letting the spectacular landscapes break down into soft-focus abstractions
"The Wound" understands how masculinity can't afford to be mutable, and it understands just how mutable men can be, but it's hard to say very much about strength in a story that ultimately defines its characters by their weaknesses alone
